Canadian Polygamists Bring Gays Into Their Marriage Battle

From The Advocate:
The leaders of two Canadian polygamist groups are defending their "marriages" by referencing the nation's 2005 decision to legalize same-sex marriage, reports the Associated Press.
So we all know what's coming next. Shrieks and howls from the Christian hate groups about how the legalization of gay marriage leads to the legalization of polygamy - JUST LIKE THEY SAID IT WOULD.

A couple of things.

First of all, I'm not against polygamy. Pretty much simply because I'm not a judgemental asshole. However, unlike gay marriage, and for the sake of the arguments that will be presented by the anti-gay hate groups, there are some serious social consequences to the legalization of polygamy.

I've found this article to be an invaluable resource.

A few paragraphs:
One Man, Many Wives, Big Problems
The social consequences of polygamy are bigger than you think

Other things being equal [male to female ratio] (and, to a good first approximation, they are), when one man marries two women, some other man marries no woman. When one man marries three women, two other men don't marry. When one man marries four women, three other men don't marry. Monogamy gives everyone a shot at marriage. Polygyny, by contrast, is a zero-sum game that skews the marriage market so that some men marry at the expense of others.

[snip]

The social dynamics of zero-sum marriage are ugly. In a polygamous world, boys could no longer grow up taking marriage for granted. Many would instead see marriage as a trophy in a sometimes brutal competition for wives. Losers would understandably burn with resentment, and most young men, even those who eventually won, would fear losing. Although much has been said about polygamy's inegalitarian implications for women who share a husband, the greater victims of inequality would be men who never become husbands.

By this point it should be obvious that polygamy is, structurally and socially, the opposite of same-sex marriage, not its equivalent. Same-sex marriage stabilizes individuals, couples, communities, and society by extending marriage to many who now lack it. Polygamy destabilizes individuals, couples, communities, and society by withdrawing marriage from many who now have it.
Also, remember that the comparison itself is fallacious. Same-sex marriage is about marrying 1 partner, polygamy is about marrying additional partners.

And of course, the motherload: Polygamy is Biblically approved!
biblicalpolygamy.com:

The purpose and outline of this web-site are simple:
As based only on the Bible, to provide

-the Exegesis / Argumentation Proofs in the Bible,
-the list of all the Polygamists in the Bible,
-and the examples where The Lord Himself is self-described in polygamous terms in the Bible,

all in a simple and easy-to-use web-site.
This is one I like to remember:
God said He GAVE Wives

Sometimes, people are indeed honest enough to admit that the Bible really does not prohibit polygamy (polygyny). However, as a hedge against that admission, such ones may then resort to saying one of the following assertions:

-"Yes, but God never condoned polygamy."
-"Yes, God allowed it, but He was against polygamy."
-"Polygamy was only man's idea, not God's".
-"Yes, but God never approved of polygamy."

The passage involving
2 Samuel 12:8 rather clearly reveals otherwise.

"And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things."
Check out what Focus on the Family's Citzenlink recently had to say:
Dr. Ron Jones, senior pastor of Immanuel Bible Church in Springfield, Va., has written an open letter to the new president.

"We will pray that God will grant you Solomon-like wisdom in all of the decisions you make."
And what is this "Solomon-like wisdom" like, you ask? Well it goes a little something like this:

1 Kings 11:3 "He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray."
_______
Feel free to read the whole chapter. "God" never condemns his polygamous liaisons, just the idolatry it lead to.

Stop using sex as a weapon.

Via La Bella Media:

Via Virginia High-Schoolers Rally for Gay-Cure Books
Groups of students and parents staged rallies and presented some 85 books on homosexuality from a conservative Christian perspective for inclusion in the libraries at 11 schools in the Fairfax County (Va.) Public School District October 2.

The inspiration for their actions came from a nationwide campaign organized by the Colorado Springs, Colorado–based traditional values group Focus on the Family.

Titles included Joe Dallas’s Desires in Conflict and The Gay Gospel? How Pro-Gay Advocates Misread the Bible and 101 Frequently Asked Questions about Homosexuality by Mike Haley.

According to the following article, Joe Dallas is divorced and remarried. It would appear that he cheated on his first wife, initiated a divorce as the result, and then "married" a second wife.

That's right, the author of the book "The Gay Gospel? How Pro-gay Advocates Misread the Bible," also happens to be an unrepentant bigamist adulterer.

From "By Joe Dallas, as told to Bob Davies":
-I married Brad's secretary, Carol
-Carol was gone, and we later divorced
-Renee and I were married
Not all that unlike John McCain:
This is the way I view it. Thirty years ago, John McCain wanted Cindy. He did whatever he had to do to get Cindy. That included destroying his family. Leaving a wife, someone who had waited for him while he was a POW, had been severely injured in a car accident and was quite dependent on her husband. He broke up the family of his young children because his desire for a woman 17 years his junior was more important than the needs of the woman he was already married to and the needs of his children.
Fortunately Joe didn't have kids' lives to ruin, but that doesn't stop the fact that he still lives in sin with his current mistress, Renee:
Luke 16:18 "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery."

Plainly, Joe Dallas one of the last people on Earth in a position to judge anyone else who might "Misread the Bible."

They also want Mike Haley's sanitized version of The Eternal Jew in book form put in libraries: "101 Frequently Asked Questions about Homosexuality." In fact why not just be quick about it and call it 101 FA Q's.

He's worth the money, he's got a couple of glistening gems:

Question #47 from pages 108-110,

47. Why does male homosexuality often include promiscuity?
[...]
A study realeased in 2003 found that the average duration of "steady" homosexual male partnerships was "0.75-2.25 years." What's more, those in the study who identified themselves as being in a "steady" relationship were also found to average eight casual partners a year in addition to their significant other.
OMG, stop the presses, men on men are pigger than pigs. Spooky huh?

Here's the actual scary part. As BoxTurtleBulletin notes (bold mine):

This study excluded everyone over thirty — the prime age in which people are more likely to settle down and marry.
And:
And this is the most important point of all: Because the purpose of the study was to look at how AIDS is transmitted, all monogamous couples were specifically excluded from the study. Because monogamous couples aren’t transmitting HIV, they would have been completely irrelevant to the study’s goals.
And that's just the beginning of what's wrong with the misuse of that study. And THAT'S just the beginning of what's wrong with Mike Haley's book.

Mike Haley is a LIAR, and those who support, promote, and foist the book of a liar onto an unsuspecting public are either liars themselves, or are WILLFULY ignorant. The only difference, is that one of them thinks that it's ok to lie to yourself.

Apparently for them, if you shut your eyes, run a stop sign, and happen to kill someone, it's ok as long as you "took responsibility" by shutting your eyes to the consequences.

Anyone who promotes Mike Haley's book is a LIAR.
Anyone who promotes Joe Dallas' books is a liar AND a hypocrite.

And BTW yes, I'm quite "intolerant" of liars and hypocrites, especially when they insist on calling themselves Christians.

Faithless lot.

Max Blumenthal reports on the latest "secret" CNP meeting.

From Talk to Action:

Last week, while the media focused almost obsessively on the DNC's spectacle in Denver, the country's most influential conservatives met quietly at a hotel in downtown Minneapolis to get to know Sarah Palin. The assembled were members of the Council for National Policy, an ultra-secretive cabal that networks wealthy right-wing donors together with top conservative operatives to plan long-term movement strategy.

[...]

Though Dobson and Perkins reportedly attended the recent CNP meeting in Minneapolis, a full roster of guests would be nearly impossible to require. The CNP deliberately operates below the radar, going to excessive lengths to obscure its activities. According to official CNP policy, "The media should not know when or where we meet or who takes part in our programs before or after a meeting." Thus the CNP's Minneapolis gathering was free of reporters. I only learned of the get-together through an online commentary by one of its attendees, top Dobson/Focus on the Family flack Tom Minnery. Which happens to go to a (FOTF) Citizenlink video:
