Let’s explore that, shall we?

Alcoholics Anonymous, Step One:

“We admitted we were powerless over alcohol---that our lives had become unmanageable.”

Homosexuals don’t have any more “power” over their human sexuality than do heterosexuals, so the operating phrase is: “our lives had become unmanageable.” The word “unmanageable” implying harm to one’s self and/or others.

What you seem to be suggesting is that same-sex sex, and/or relationships, automatically and directly make one’s life unmanageable.

How?
---
“many of the AA participants still struggle with a temptation to drink.”

Heterosexuals have the same human sexuality “temptations” that homosexuals do.

No difference.
---
“Because we all know that a temptation really means you are what you are tempted by”

Well if you consider human sexuality to be an addiction, then yes.

Again, no difference.
---
“and no one can every change from being an alcoholic.”

Correct, given your analogy, no one can ever change from being a sexual being to a non-sexual being.
---
“Why doesn't society just except it as a God given gift and let them drive whether they are sober or not.”

Now you’re off the map. Driving drunk DIRECTLY increases the chances of harm to one’s self and/or others. The attraction to the effects of alcohol is NOT the same as the attraction to driving drunk, as you suggest.

And to pre-empt -- given your propensity for lousy analogies -- exposure to HIV causes infection. If AIDS was the result of homosexuality, then ALL homosexuals would have it, regardless of their sex lives. No exposure, no infection.
---
“And don't get me started on polygamy either. How hypocritical that polygamy is still outlawed when we've already established that consenting adults should be able to screw each other whether they are same sex or married or never married.”

According to the Bible, your sarcasm is hypocritical. God condoned and approved of polygamy for Abdon,* Abijah, Abraham, Ahab, Ahasuerus, Ashur, Belshazzar, Benhadad, Caleb, David, Eliphaz, Elkanah, Esau, Ezra, Gideon, Heman,* Hosea,* Ibzan,* Issachar,** Jacob, Jair,* Jehoiachin, Jehoram, Jerahmeel, Joash, Lamech, Machir, Manasseh, Mered, Moses, Nahor, Rehoboam, Saul, Shaharaim, Shimei,* Simeon, Solomon, Terah,* Zedekiah, and Ziba.*

Did you forget to read those parts, or do think God just changed His mind?

If you have a problem with God’s approval of polygamy, you’ll have to take that up with God.

And while you’re at it, you might want to take up your disapproval of incest with God too, since He designed it into the ORIGINAL plan for family and procreation - as per the population of the Earth through Adam and Eve and their children.

Or did He change His mind on that too?
---
“America will never be free until consenting adults can do anything they want with anyone they want as long as everyone consents.”

As long as that consent doesn’t harm anyone else, directly or indirectly, then yes. And your kids having to “think about it” because it’s a part of reality doesn’t count.
---
For the record, I know exactly what you were getting at. An honest analogy would have been sex addicts anonymous, but that would have required you to acknowledge that heterosexuals were prone to the same “temptations,” which was the last thing you wanted.

Your goal was to demean and dismiss the fundamental human sexuality that homosexuals like me share with you as merely an addiction to be overcome. By denigrating my human need for love, companionship and sex, you can then feel that yours is superior to mine. Then you delude yourself into thinking that it’s God who has a problem with anal sex - because it wasn’t two girls who fell off that wagon now was it?

It has nothing to do with religious belief, because clearly you haven’t read the Bible. It also has nothing to do with moral conviction, as you equate harmful behavior with non-harmful behavior. As always, it comes down to the “ick” factor. Which you just spent six paragraphs trying hide.

You not only didn’t have the respect for me to come up with your own argument, you didn’t have the respect for me to think through the argument spoon-fed you by your leaders.

I’m that beneath you. Therein lies the hatred.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15741631418494590847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2812883393114451591.post-41255128529708043212009-03-17T20:11:00.000-04:002009-03-17T20:11:00.000-04:00I don't know if I mentioned this here, but two guy...I don't know if I mentioned this here, but two guys who were involved in Alcoholics Anonymous fell off the wagon and in fact several have chosen (bad word, I know) to drink. Funny, how we have been endowed with free will by our Creator.

Also, I've to talked to someone who used to be a part of AA, and I learned some interesting things. Things you could never imagine. He says that many of the AA participants still struggle with a temptation to drink. Makes you think the Bible and all that talk about sin is true. But we all know better, right.

Because we all know that a temptation really means you are what you are tempted by and no one can every change from being an alcoholic. Poor bastards, forever they will be drunks. Why doesn't society just except it as a God given gift and let them drive whether they are sober or not.

We are so backwards here in America. So prejudice against drinkers when God made them that way. They've always been that way.

And don't get me started on polygamy either. How hypocritical that polygamy is still outlawed when we've already established that consenting adults should be able to screw each other whether they are same sex or married or never married.

America will never be free until consenting adults can do anything they want with anyone they want as long as everyone consents. Because we know if its consensual, it's right!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2812883393114451591.post-77523326391182129802009-03-01T09:22:00.000-05:002009-03-01T09:22:00.000-05:00I don't know if I mentioned this here, but the two...I don't know if I mentioned this here, but the two guys who founded Exodus fell in love, left the ministry, and had a same sex commitment ceremony.

Also, I've talked to someone who used to be involved in the change ministries, and I learned some interesting things. Most people don't stay in the ministries very long. Also, the leaders will acknowledge still having same sex attractions when they are talking to other members in private.libhomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05537213558568338561noreply@blogger.com
